Top Nursing School vote badgeDANBURY, Connecticut — The Western Connecticut State University Nursing program has been named “Top Nursing School in Connecticut – Student Choice Award” by Nurse.org.

Nursing students and alumni from around the country were invited by Nurse.org, a nursing resource website with more than a million followers, to vote for the top nursing schools in their state, and the Western Connecticut State University Department of Nursing garnered the most votes in Connecticut. As a result of being selected the Top Nursing School in Connecticut, WCSU is now in the running to be one of the Top 3 in the U.S.

Alumni, students, health care providers and anyone with knowledge of or interaction with WCSU nursing students or graduates are encouraged to cast a vote for the Department of Nursing at https://nurse.org/articles/top-nursing-schools-student-choice/#voteUS. Once there, voters simply need to scroll down to Connecticut on the alphabetized list of all 50 states, and select Western Connecticut State University.

The WCSU Department of Nursing is housed in the university’s School of Professional Studies. Dr. Joan Palladino, dean of the School of Professional Studies, responded to the top ranking.

“We are so proud that WCSU Nursing has been voted as the top nursing program in Connecticut,” Palladino said. “The fact that it is our students and alumni who are voting and making this testament to what our nursing program has done for them says so much. WCSU Nursing continues to have high NCLEX scores with 100% job placement. We are committed to graduating quality nurses to provide health care to the greater Danbury region and the state of Connecticut.”

According to the Nurse.org website, “Nursing education plays a pivotal role in producing skilled and compassionate health care providers. This contest aims to honor the nursing schools that excel in providing exceptional education, fostering innovation, and preparing nurses to make a positive impact on patients’ lives.”

The Nurse.org website describes its methodology as follows: “Where possible, Nurse.org’s rankings are determined by a proprietary ranking algorithm that uses the latest and most robust U.S. government data sets, specifically the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System

(IPEDS) and College Scorecard. We make every effort to keep statistics up-to-date with the most recent information published from each data source across our website. For programs not identified in IPEDS or College Scorecard, we compare programs based on a set of metrics that identify the best programs for nurses, including NCLEX pass rate, tuition, acceptance rate, student-to-faculty ratio, and accreditation. Only ACEN or CCNE-accredited schools are eligible for our rankings.”
