WestConn’s Pota collects third Little East Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of The Week Award

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –  Western Connecticut State University freshman attacker Isabella Pota (East Meadow, New York) was named as the Little East Conference (LEC) Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week award for the third time this season, thanks to her outstanding play in the Wolves’ win at Marymount and a setback at Hood on March 13 and 15, respectively. Pota totaled three goals, two assists and nine draw controls in a 1-1 week for the Wolves. Pota had a goal, two assists, and five draw controls in the 13-11 win at Marymount and a pair of goals, two ground balls and four draw controls in the 12-11 loss at Hood. Pota had a hat trick and four draw controls in the Wolves season-opening 10-9 overtime setback to the United States Coast Guard Academy on February 21 to collect her first LEC Rookie of the Week honor and notched seven goals and 18 draw controls in two wins to garner her second on March 4. WestConn, coached by Rachael Griffth (1st Season), is 4-2 and will visit No. 3-ranked Tufts on Saturday, March 23, at 1 p.m. in their next game.
