WestConn Women’s Lacrosse pair repeat as Little East award winners

women's lacrossePROVIDENCE, R.I. – Western Connecticut State University senior Molly Bresnahan (Noank) was honored as the Little East Conference (LEC) Women’s Lacrosse Goalie of the Week and freshman attacker Isabella Pota (East Meadow, New York.) received the LEC Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week award, both for the second time in a row, for their outstanding play in the Wolves’ wins over Smith and at Farmingdale State on February 28 and March 2.  Bresnahan totaled 17 saves over two games, opening the week with a six-save effort in a 19-11 win over Smith before stopping 11 shots in a 15-8 win over Farmingdale. Pota notched seven goals and 18 draw controls, scoring three times with 13 draw controls against Smith before tallying four goals and five draw controls against the Farmingdale Rams.

Bresnahan had recorded 12 saves, three ground balls and a caused turnover and Pota had a hat trick and four draw controls in the Wolves season-opening 10-9 overtime setback to the United States Coast Guard Academy on February 21 to collect their first LEC Goalie and Rookie of the Week awards, respectively.  WestConn, coached by Rachael Griffth (1st Season), are 2-1 and will host Hartford on Wednesday, March 6, at 3 p.m. in their next game.
