WestConn to host Ninth Tri-State Weather Conference

Ninth Weather Conference graphicDANBURY, Connecticut — The Ninth Tri-State Weather Conference will be on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, in the Science Building, Room 125, on the Western Connecticut State University Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury.

The purpose of the conference is to enhance education, professional development, and communication among private and public sector meteorologists, researchers, educators, students, emergency management officials and weather enthusiasts. The Keynote Speaker will be Dr. Jason P. Tuell, Director of the Eastern Region, National Weather Service. Joining Tuell will be WestConn Professor of Biology Dr. Stephen (Mitch) Wagener, and Hayden Frank from the National Weather Service, Boston, Massachusetts.

The conference is presented by the WestConn Meteorology program and co-sponsored by the WCSU Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (AMS); the New York City/Long Island Chapter of the AMS; National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)/National Weather Service/Upton, New York; NOAA/National Weather Service/Albany, New York; and NOAA and National Weather Service/Boston/Norton, Massachusetts.

The registration fee is $25 and will include a continental breakfast and a pizza/salad bar lunch, along with conference materials. Continental breakfast will be served from 8:15 to 9 a.m. in the Science Building Atrium and attendees are encouraged to arrive early for check-in and breakfast.
