WestConn Men’s Basketball trio named to Little East All-Conference Teams

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Western Connecticut State University graduate student Jaheim Young (Brooklyn, New York) and junior Cameron Gallon (York, Pennsylvania) were named to the 2024 Little East Conference (LEC) Men’s Basketball All-Conference Team, while WestConn junior Jeremiah Williams (Brooklyn, New York) graced the LEC Men’s Basketball All-Defensive Team.  The Wolves, coached by Guy Rancourt (5th Season), finished the 2023-24 season with a 22-5 record and in second place in the LEC with a 14-2 mark against conference opponents.  The Wolves qualified for the Little East Championship Tournament for the 30th time and the third year in a row, winning, 88-63, against UMass-Dartmouth in the semifinals before falling at Keene State, 84-68, in the championship finals.

Young led WestConn in scoring at 15.5 ppg (4th NESCAC) and rebounding with 5.7 per game (2nd NESCAC).  He shot 44.1 percent from the floor, 38.1 percent from long range and 77.2 percent from the foul line and totaled 47 assists, 40 steals and 13 blocked shots in 26 games (all starts).  Young scored in double figures in 21 games as a F/G for the Wolves and was named as the LEC Player of the Week once and to the Metro Basketball Writers Honorable Mention twice during the year.  An alumnus of Bishop Loughlin High School, Young graduated from WestConn last May with a bachelor’s degree in communication and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in counselor education. He is the son of Sharon Callahan and Judy Gold.

Gallon led WestConn in steals with 53 and three-point shooting percentage at 39.6 while averaging 12.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.  Gallon shot 46.2 percent from the floor and 78.0 percent from the foul line and totaled 41 assists and 12 blocked shots in 27 games (23 starts). Gallon scored in double figures in 18 games as a forward for the Wolves and was named to the Metro Basketball Writers Honorable Mention once during the year.  An alumnus of William Penn High School, Gallon is majoring in management at WestConn.

Williams wreaked havoc on the WestConn defense that held opponents to 38.1 percent shooting from the field and 29.8 percent shooting from long range and forced over 22 turnovers per game. Williams also led WestConn in assists with 85 to go with 39 steals and 49 rebounds. He averaged 8.3 points per game and shot a team-high 55.6 percent from the floor in 27 games (26 starts) at guard for the Wolves. A graduate of Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Williams is majoring in anthropology and sociology at WestConn.
