WCSU to host 8th Annual Health, Fitness and Wellness Fair

petting baby goatsDANBURY, Connecticut — Western Connecticut State University will host its eighth annual Health, Fitness and Wellness Fair from noon to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, in the Westside Campus Center Ballroom, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. The fair will include activities that help relieve stress and encourage staying healthy, and is free and open to the public.

Attendees will participate in activities such as personal training and coaching mini-sessions, chocolate meditation, integrated movement demonstrations, cross-cultural and holistic healing, free food, giveaways, product samples and much more.

In addition to campus organizations like WCSU Health Services, Institute for Holistic Health Studies, Career Success Center and Exercise is Medicine on Campus, community health and wellness organizations will be represented as well, including The Center for Empowerment and Education, StretchLab Ridgefield, Northeast Natural Medicine LLC, Wonderfully Whole, Aspire LLC, Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling, Western CT Coalition, APEX Community Care, Vitti’s Dance Studio, Newtown Volunteer Ambulance, doTERRA, BK Meditation Center of CT, Embody the Sacred, Earth Fit, Inner Alignment Education, Juice Plus, Centropix, Turning Point Reiki, Live Your Way Thin, Advanced Specialty Care Danbury, Danbury Hospital Stroke Program and Lyme Connection of Ridgefield. Wells Valley Cat Rescue will also be there with adorable kittens, and Got Your Goat will be in attendance with some baby goats.

“Our objective is to increase awareness of topics related to health, fitness and wellness by providing activities, materials, demonstrations, screenings and information to our participants,” said WCSU Associate Director of Recreation Amy Shanks. “It is a great way for our student body to learn about all of the resources available to them on campus, as well as opportunities that are available to everyone in the community.

“This event is an opportunity for students to participate in fun activities that encourage them to focus on their health,” Shanks said. “It will be a perfect time to attend the event before finals begin.”
