WCSU presents music events at Visual and Performing Arts Center

DANBURY, Connecticut — The Western Connecticut State University Department of Music will present live events open to the public at the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall in the WCSU Visual and Performing Arts Center, 43 Lake Ave. Extension, Danbury, in November. Tickets for all events can be purchased here or go to wcsuvpac.eventbrite.com. Musical performances include:

“Opera Scenes” featuring the WCSU Opera Ensemble performing favorite opera scenes and excerpts, at 7 – 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, and Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021. Directed by Margaret Astrup, Tickets are $10 plus fees if purchased in advance and $15 at the door.

“Piano Studio Recital” featuring recitals from WCSU piano majors performing on concert grand pianos, at 3 – 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021. Tickets are $7 plus fees if purchased online and $10 at the door.

“Jazz Combos” featuring four of WCSU’s student jazz ensembles performing a mix of standards and original compositions and arrangements, at 7 – 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021. Directed by Jimmy Green and Jamie Begian, Tickets are $7 plus fees if purchased online and $10 at the door.

“Orchestra and Concert Chorale Performance” featuring WCSU student musician and vocal ensembles, at 3 – 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021. Orchestra directed by Fernando Jimenez and chorale directed by Jeremy Wiggins. Tickets are $7 plus fees if purchased online and $10 at the door.

“Chamber Singers and University Choir Performance” featuring WCSU student chamber singers and vocal ensemble, at 7 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021. Chamber Singers directed by Kevin Jay Isaacs and University Choir directed by Jeremy Wiggins. Tickets are $7 plus fees if purchased online and $10 at the door.
