DANBURY, Connecticut — Western Connecticut State University will hold its 126th Commencement exercises on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the Total Mortgage Arena, 600 Main St. in Bridgeport. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. for 1,122 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree recipients from the university’s Ancell School of Business, Macricostas School of Arts & Sciences, School of Professional Studies and School of Visual & Performing Arts.
It will be the first Commencement exercises overseen by Interim WCSU President Dr. Manohar Singh. Also addressing the 936 undergraduates, 180 master’s degree recipients and six doctoral degree candidates will be two invited speakers:
The Distinguished Alumnus Speaker is Corey P. Paris ’14, State Rep. for Connecticut’s145th district. Paris serves on the legislature’s Appropriations Committee as Vice Chair and as a member of the Higher Education & Employment Advancement Committee and Education Committee.
Delivering the Keynote Speech will be M. Farooq Kathwari, Chairman, President and CEO of Ethan Allen Interiors, Inc. Kathwari has been president of the company since 1985, and chairman and CEO since 1988.
There are two large outdoor lots and one parking garage at Total Mortgage Arena. Parking is first-come, first-served and will be free during the Commencement ceremony. Simultaneous events at adjacent venues will result in high demand for parking, so it is suggested that participants and their guests arrive early. Bridgeport Police will be stationed at the entrance and various arena locations to direct traffic and instruct visitors.
Tickets are required to attend. The ceremony will be streamed live at www.wcsu.edu/live for those who are unable to attend.
