WHEN: Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, Gates ceremony begins at 1-1:30 p.m.
WHERE: Western Connecticut State University’s Midtown campus, 181 White St., Danbury.
WHAT: “Entering the Gates” Ceremony for first-year students to welcome them to WestConn. The “Entering the Gates” Ceremony is a long-held tradition celebrating the newest class of WestConn first-year students each year, and marks the beginning of the school year. Following the procession through the university gates on White Street in Danbury, students and their families will be welcomed by WestConn President Dr. Manohar Singh and members of his leadership team on the Midtown campus Quad in front of Higgins Hall.
WHO: Members of the media are invited to attend the Entering the Gates ceremony and subsequent welcome remarks.
TRAFFIC ALERT: Traffic will be heavier than usual on White Street in Danbury on Friday, Aug. 23, as incoming students will be moving into residence halls on the Midtown campus. Members of the media who plan to attend the event should park in the White Street Garage.
