DANBURY, CONN.— Western Connecticut State University is the first among all 17 Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) to appear in the new documentary “College Bound: A Look into Connecticut State Colleges & Universities,” which was screened last week at the Connecticut Science Center.

Connecticut Public Television produced this documentary in conjunction with the combined efforts of the CSCU community in a bid to reach a broader audience about the CSCU system and public higher education in Connecticut.

“College Bound” answers questions such as: does paying more for tuition mean students will get a better education, which programs give students the skills employers want and what do college rankings really mean?

“Being filmed was eye-opening for me,” said Kaitlyn Labonte, a social work major from South Windsor, and one of the WCSU women’s basketball team members featured. “It helped me realize the opportunities WestConn has provided for me and how much I was able to accomplish by choosing this university. I am honored to have been asked to be a part of the program and am thankful to have this documentary to look back on once my time at WestConn comes to an end.” Labonte’s teammates, as well as her coach, also appeared in the documentary.

The documentary can be viewed online here, or during set air times on the CPTV network: at 10 p.m. on Monday, March 26; at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 22; and at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018.
