WCSU’s 100@100 Off-The-Wall Art Exhibition & Fundraiser on Feb. 25 to raise funds for Department of Art: Artwork on public display at WCSU’s Gallery beginning Feb. 9

100@100 posterDANBURY, Connecticut — Western Connecticut State University’s Department of Art will host the 100@100 Off-The-Wall Art Exhibition and Fundraiser from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, in the Gallery at the university’s Visual and Performing Arts Center, 43 Lake Ave. Extension, Danbury. The event features 100 original pieces of art, music, food, drinks and more. Proceeds benefit the Gallery Exhibitions Program. Tickets are available at wcsuvpac.eventbrite.com.

Artwork for this event will be on public view beginning Thursday, Feb. 9, during the Gallery’s regular hours, Tuesday – Friday from noon to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 1 to 4 p.m., except holidays and days that WCSU is closed. The 100 works of original art are created by 100 professional local and regional artists including WCSU Department of Art faculty and alumni.

There are three types of tickets for this fundraiser:

  • Ultimate Experience Tickets are $200 each and include admission for the ticketholder and a guest and an original work of art, plus two VIP tickets to a WCSU Music or Theatre performance of your choice during the Spring 2023 or Fall 2023 seasons, as well as a special thank you gift. There are only 10 of these tickets available.

 

  • Participation Tickets (limited to 90 tickets ) are $100 each and provide ticketholders one work of original art, entrance to the event and access to refreshments and entertainment.

 

  • General Admission Tickets are $25 each and include entrance to the event and access to refreshments, entertainment and viewing of the art. Artwork is not included with this ticket.

WCSU’s Department of Art is part of the School of Visual and Performing Arts, along with Music and Theatre. Located in the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the university’s Westside campus, the Department hosts studios for Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Graphic Design, Illustration and Photography for both undergraduate and graduate programs, and has its own art gallery. Through the Gallery the WCSU Department of Art is committed to providing students and residents of Danbury and surrounding communities an accessible cultural resource that exhibits teaching faculty, graduate and undergraduate students and professional local and regional artists. The Gallery is used as a teaching tool to enhance the educational experiences of WCSU students and provides unique opportunities for students to participate in the behind-the-scenes gallery operations while working alongside accomplished artists.

Other Department of Art events this spring are the 2023 M.F.A. Thesis Exhibition running March 23 – April 6, with an Opening Reception on Thursday, March 23, from 6 to 8 p.m., and the 2023 Senior Portfolio Exhibition April 20 – May 7, with the Opening Reception on Thursday, April 20, from 6 to 8 p.m., both at the Visual and Performing Arts Center.
